Notre Dame’s blowout win over Navy in Week 10 was enough to push the Fighting Irish up one spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

Notre Dame is at No. 9 in the updated rankings after debuting at No. 10 last week. Brian Kelly’s squad defeated Navy 34-6 over the weekend.

Notre Dame is 8-1 on the season heading into a pivotal matchup with 6-3 Virginia. Its only loss this year came at home to Cincinnati, who moved up to No. 5 in this week’s CFP rankings.

The Cavaliers boast one of the top offenses in the country when healthy. Unfortunately for them, that’s not a given this week.

Quarterback Brennan Armstrong exited Virginia’s loss to BYU in Week 9 with an apparent injury to his ribs. The Cavaliers were idle in Week 10, and coach Bronco Mendenhall declined to issue an update on his status during his press conference on Monday.

Notre Dame is closing in on its fifth consecutive 10-win season. The Fighting Irish still have to face Georgia Tech and Stanford later this year.

Kickoff vs. the Cavaliers is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
