It’s still early, but the Marcus Freeman era is off to a remarkable start on the recruiting trail.

As of late June, Notre Dame currently has the No. 1 ranked classes in 2023 and 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Fighting Irish have long held that title in 2023, but jumped to the top spot in 2024 over the weekend after picking up a commitment from 4-star tight end Jack Larsen.

It’s exceptionally early in the 2024 cycle, but Notre Dame already had 4 commitments from blue-chip prospects. The class is led by 5-star quarterback CJ Carr, who committed to the Irish earlier this month.

As for 2023, Notre Dame is still humming along. The Fighting Irish are up to 15 commitments in that class with more potentially on the way this summer. That group is led by 5-star EDGE rusher Keon Keeley.

There’s 1 obvious hole for Notre Dame in that class: quarterback. The Fighting Irish are in pursuit of 5-star Dante Moore — one of the top passers in the country.

It shouldn’t be surprising to see Notre Dame’s recruiting hit another level under Freeman. At his introductory press conference, Freeman indicated that recruiting would be amongst his top priorities.

The Early Signing Period for the class of 2023 is in December.
