Notre Dame OC rumors are heating up.

On Monday, it was reported that former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich is a candidate to replace Tommy Rees at Notre Dame. Leftwich spent the last 4 seasons as the Bucs’ OC, which included their run to Super Bowl LV.

Leftwich, a former quarterback at Marshall and in the NFL, has been coaching since 2016. Before moving to Tampa Bay, Leftwich served in a variety of roles on the Arizona Cardinals’ coaching staff.

Notre Dame is expected to interview multiple candidates for the role, but Leftwich is an intriguing possibility for the Fighting Irish. According to the report from 247Sports’ Grace Remington, Leftwich proactively reached out to coach Marcus Freeman about the position.
