Notre Dame OC rumors: Former NFL coordinator reportedly expresses interest in the job

Notre Dame now has to hire a new offensive coordinator after Tommy Rees left for the same position at Alabama last week.

There will be plenty of candidates in the mix for head coach Marcus Freeman, but one interesting name has reportedly reached out to Freeman about the position.

Per Grace Remington of 247Sports, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC Byron Leftwich has been in contact with Freeman about the job in South Bend:

Leftwich was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2003 N

FL Draft out of Marshall, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In addition to the Jaguars, he played for the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his NFL career, which ended in 2012.

He has been the offensive coordinator with the Buccaneers since 2019, winning a Super Bowl with Tom Brady as his quarterback in 2020.
