Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is excited about the addition of 4-star quarterback Kenny Minchey.

Minchey officially signed with the Fighting Irish on Wednesday. He was committed to Pittsburgh for most of the cycle, but Notre Dame was able to flip his commitment back in the fall.

“The more time we’ve spent with him and his family, the more we think he’s the right guy to lead this class,” Rees said.

Minchey is the No. 165 overall player and the No. 13 quarterback in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 player in the state of Tennessee.

He committed to Notre Dame back on Nov. 22. Minchey also earned offers from programs like Michigan State and Tennessee.

Notre Dame landed a top 10 class in the 2023 cycle. The group is led by four top-100 players, including 4-star offensive lineman Charles Jagusah. The group ranks No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Minchey will be one of several quarterbacks on Notre Dame’s 2023 roster. Tyler Buchner and Steve Angeli are expected to return for next season. Notre Dame is also pursuing a quarterback in the transfer portal this offseason.
