Notre Dame is coming off a huge win over Navy this weekend. Virginia was idle in Week 10.
The Fighting Irish currently sit at 8-1 and are inside the top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings. It’s possible they’ll jump up the rankings this week after Michigan State and Wake Forest suffered losses.
Virginia last played in Week 9 when it suffered a loss at BYU. The Cavaliers fell out of contention in that game after quarterback Brennan Armstrong suffered a rib injury in the fourth quarter. They scored just 7 points after halftime.
Armstrong’s status for this game is unclear. If he’s healthy, he leads arguably the most explosive offense in the ACC. Armstrong has thrown for 3,557 yards this season already and is on pace to smash the ACC’s single-season passing yardage mark.
If Armstrong isn’t 100 percent, it’s possible Virginia could sideline him as it prepares to finish out the season with two conference games. The Cavaliers are still firmly in the mix for the ACC Coastal title.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
