Notre Dame added to its 2023 recruiting class on Thursday evening.

The Irish picked up a commitment from 3-star receiver Kaleb Smith. They beat out Texas Tech for his pledge.

Notre Dame was a late offer for Smith but the Fighting Irish clearly made a big impression over a short amount of time. They originally offered back in early November.

Smith was committed to Texas Tech before Notre Dame offered. Known for his speed, Smith attends Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas.

He’s the No. 160 receiver in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Notre Dame now has five commitments from the state of Texas in this cycle: Peyton Bowen, Braylon James, Jaden Greathouse and Micah Bell are the others.

Smith is also the fourth receiver to join this class. James, Greathouse and Rico Flores previously committed to Notre Dame to play receiver.
