Notre Dame got off to a great start in ACC play on Friday, beating No. 17 NC State 8-4 in a thrilling 12-inning affair.

The Fighting Irish trailed 4-0 for most the game before adding three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. They ultimately exploded for four runs in a decisive 12th inning.

Zack Prajzner got things started in the 12th inning with a solo home run. Notre Dame was then able to take advantage of multiple fielding mistakes by the Wolfpack and eventually plated three more runs. Prajzner finished with 2 RBI.

Every Notre Dame hitter who registered at least five at bats reached base. The Fighting Irish out-hit the Wolfpack, 12-10.

Jack Brannigan was credited with the win. He pitched 1.2 innings of relief and struck out four while allowing zero hits. Brannigan also went 3-for-5 at the plate.

Notre Dame is now 10-1 this season, with its only loss coming against Delaware back on Jan. 20. It will finish its series at NC State with games on Friday and Saturday.
