Notre Dame landed a commitment from a top running back transfer on Friday.

Former Penn State running back Devyn Ford announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish.

Here’s his announcement:

Ford joins Notre Dame after 4 seasons with the Nittany Lions. He burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2019, rushing for 294 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, his role has dwindled since that standout freshman campaign.

Last season, he rushed the ball just 7 times for 37 yards in 4 games. He hasn’t scored a touchdown since the 2020 season.

Still, he’s a capable runner who will add depth and experience to a Notre Dame backfield that is looking to replace Logan Diggs, who transferred to LSU earlier this offseason.

Ford will immediately become one of the most experienced running backs in Notre Dame’s backfield. Audric Estime, Notre Dame’s expected starter, also has some experience. But behind him is a trio of talented-but-unproven running backs: Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price and Gi’Bran Payne.

Ford is the 7th transfer to commit to Notre Dame this offseason.
