Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne was on the other end of some “hard coaching” from offensive coordinator Tommy Rees during the Irish’s 24-17 win over Cal on Saturday.

NBC cameras captured Rees appearing to yell, “Do your F——ing job” to Pyne over the sideline phone in the first half.

Here’s the clip:

After the game, Pyne told reporters he has no issues with Rees’ words and said he asked his offensive coordinator to coach him hard this week.

“I texted him this Sunday and said I want you to be very hard on me,” Pyne said. “That’s the standard he holds me to and that’s what I asked for, and I respond well to hard coaching.”

For what it’s worth, Pyne was significantly better after that conversation with Rees. He completed 10-of-11 passes for 93 yards and 1 touchdown in the second half.

This was Notre Dame’s first win of the season and the first win of the Marcus Freeman era. The Fighting Irish take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill next week.
