Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams was an early pick on Day 3 of the NFL Draft.

He was selected in the 5th round on Saturday afternoon by the defending Super Bowl champs — the Los Angeles Rams.

Shortly after the pick was made, Notre Dame posted his heartfelt reaction and conversation with the Rams. Here it is:

Here’s the conversation from the Rams’ draft room:

That’s clearly an emotional moment for Williams, who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where the Rams were located until 2015.

Williams was arguably Notre Dame’s best offensive player over the past two seasons. He departed Notre Dame with back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and is also a threat out of the backfield.

The Rams have one of the more sophisticated offenses in the NFL, so Williams’ versatility could end up playing a big role. He was also an excellent pass blocker at Notre Dame.

Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are currently ahead of Williams on the depth chart.
