Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams significantly improved his 40-yard dash time at the Fighting Irish’s pro day on Friday morning.

Williams ran a disappointing 4.65 at the NFL combine earlier this spring. His 4.54 time on Friday should have him moving back up draft boards.

Williams should have a chance to go on Day 2 of the NFL Draft later this spring. He profiles as a modern NFL running back that can contribute in the passing game at a high level.

Last season, Williams rushed for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns. It was his second straight campaign of clearing 1,000+ yards and 10+ touchdowns.

Williams also caught 42 passes for 359 yards and three more touchdowns. He was also exceptional as a pass blocker, which should really help his case with NFL scouts.

Williams has a chance to be the second Notre Dame prospect off the board on draft night. Safety Kyle Hamilton is expected to be a top-10 overall pick.

The 2022 NFL Draft will be held April 28-30.
