Notre Dame signs all 21 players in 2022 recruiting class during Early Signing Period
Despite going through a coaching change, Notre Dame’s 2022 recruiting class is — so far — an undisputed success.
The Fighting Irish entered the Early Signing Period with 21 commitments in this cycle, and they received National Letter of Intent signatures from every player.
Notre Dame currently as the No. 7 class in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. It trails only Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and Penn State.
It’s the top class in the country for a program who went through a coaching change this offseason. The next-best transition classes are Oklahoma at No. 10 and LSU at No. 18.
Notre Dame’s top defensive recruit is 5-star linebacker Jaylen Sneed. He’s the No. 35 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina.
The Fighting Irish’s top offensive recruit is 4-star receiver Tobias Merriweather. He’s the No. 18 receiver in this class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s been committed to Notre Dame since Aug. 4.
A big reason why Notre Dame was able to keep this recruiting class together is the continuity of the coaching staff. New head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees are listed as the primary or secondary recruiters for many of these prospects.
Notre Dame could still add to its 2022 recruiting class in the coming months. The final signing period for this class begins on Feb. 2.
