Notre Dame star explains hilarious 'Top Gun' inspiration for postseason run
Notre Dame center fielder Spencer Myers had a big game on Friday night in Omaha.
He drove in 2 runs as the Fighting Irish secured their first College World Series victory since 2002. But after the game, he was first asked about his mustache.
His facial hair perhaps bears some resemblance to Miles Teller’s character in the new film, “Top Gun: Maverick.” You can decide for yourself:

According to Myers, the whole team watched the movie together and attempted to grow mustaches for the postseason.

“The whole team went to the new Top Gun movie and it was right in time for the playoffs and we just decided, ‘why not try something?'” Myers told the ACC Network crew. “Try to get hot.”
Notre Dame is in the midst of its third trip to the College World Series in program history. It previously finished 5th (2002) and 4th (1957). The Fighting Irish have never reached the championship series, but are now just 2 wins away from reaching that feat.
Notre Dame will face Oklahoma on Sunday for a spot in the semifinals. First pitch is at 7 p.m. ET.
