Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer has become one of the top weapons in the Fighting Irish’s offense.

He has 41 catches this season for 465 yards and 3 touchdowns. Just over half of those catches have come from the slot, which leads all of college football according to Pro Football Focus:

Mayer has produced 3 games of at least 7 catches for 80 or more yards so far this season. Defense have done a better job on him in the red zone recently, keeping him out of the end zone since Sept. 11 vs. Toledo. He scored 2 touchdowns vs. Florida State in Notre Dame’s season-opener.

Through eight games, Mayer leads Notre Dame in receptions and receiving yards and is just one off the lead for receiving touchdowns.

Notre Dame will need his production down the stretch. The Fighting Irish close out the season with Navy, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Stanford.

Kick off vs. the Midshipmen is at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
