Notre Dame will be involved in 1st College GameDay of the 2022 season

ESPN announced its first College GameDay location of the 2022 season on Tuesday.

Notre Dame will be in the spotlight as the GameDay crew travels to Columbus, Ohio, to cover the Fighting Irish’s marquee matchup at Ohio State.

Here’s the announcement:

This will be a historic matchup between 2 programs with extremely proud football traditions. The Buckeyes and Irish have met just 6 times before and haven’t played in Columbus since 1995.

Ohio State is 4-2 all-time vs. Notre Dame. The Irish’s only wins in this series came during a home-and-home in the 1930s when Notre Dame was led by Elmer F. Layden. Ohio State swept the next home-and-home in the 1990’s and has won 2 bowl games over Notre Dame in the last 20 years.

Ohio State is a big favorite to beat Notre Dame again. The Buckeyes are 13.5-point favorites, according to an early line recently released by FanDuel

.

College GameDay was also present in South Bend for Ohio State’s victory over Notre Dame. That was the last time this series was played on a college campus.
