Notre Dame continues to make progress in the recruitment of 4-star receiver Taeshaun Lyons.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lyons announced he will take an official visit to South Bend on Sept. 17 as the Irish host Cal.

Here’s his announcement:

Lyons is a recent offer for Notre Dame. He picked up a Notre Dame offer back on Aug. 9 and the Irish are now leaders in his recruitment, according to 247Sports Crystal Ball projections.

Lyons is a California native who is also being recruited by west coast schools like Oregon, Washington and Utah. He has taken multiple visits to Washington this cycle.

If Notre Dame can land Lyons commitment before signing day, he would be a big addition to its receiver class. Notre Dame currently has commitments from 3 receivers in the class of 2023: 4-star Braylon James, 4-star Jaden Greathouse and 4-star Rico Flores.

Overall, Notre Dame has 23 commitments in the class of 2023. The group ranks No. 4 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Alabama, Texas and Georgia are ranked ahead of Notre Dame. Oklahoma rounds out the top 5.

Lyons has not set a date for his commitment.
