Notre Dame zeroing in on next special teams coordinator, per report

Notre Dame is expected to hire Ole Miss special teams coordinator Marty Biagi for the same role, according to a report.

The Athletic’s Matt Fortuna was 1st to report that news on Sunday afternoon. Biagi would replace Brian Mason, who left for a role the Indianapolis Colts

this offseason.

Mason is a big loss for Notre Dame. He was largely credited with Notre Dame’s 7 blocked punts from a year ago, which led the country.

However, Biagi has history with Notre Dame. He previously served as a special teams analyst with the Fighting Irish in 2016. Since then, he’s been the special teams coordinator for North Texas, Purdue and Ole Miss.

As a player, Biagi was a punter and kicker for Marshall from 2004-07. He’s originally from Shelbyville, Kentucky.

N

otre Dame has not yet announced Biagi’s hiring.
