Notre Dame’s running backs accomplish rare feat vs. North Carolina

Notre Dame’s trio of running backs accomplished a special feat on Saturday afternoon in the Irish’s road win over Carolina.

For the first time since at least 1996, 3 different Notre Dame running backs cleared 100+ scrimmage yards in the same game. Audric Estime, Chris Tyree and Logan Diggs all cleared that threshold vs. the Tar Heels.

That stat comes from Notre Dame PR:

Estime was the team’s leading rusher, carrying the ball 17 times for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tyree and Diggs both did a lot of work in the passing game. Diggs caught 3 passes for 65 yards and a crucial touchdown. Tyree had 4 receptions for 24 yards.

Notre Dame played its best offensive game of the season by far on Saturday against the Tar Heels. The Irish cleared 500 yards of total offense for the first time this season.

Notre Dame is now 2-2 on the year. The Fighting Irish are off in Week 5 but will face BYU in a neutral site game in Week 6.
