Ohio State offered a scholarship to Notre Dame commit Adon Shuler on Sunday.

Shuler announced the offer from Ohio State on Twitter. After this announcement, Ohio State is still in the running to land the commitment of Shuler for the class of 2023.

In his post, Shuler revealed that he spoke to Ohio State safeties coach Perry Eliano before the offer was made. Even with a commitment to Notre Dame, Eliano and Ohio State decided to offer Shuler after their conversation.

In August 2021, Shuler verbally committed to Notre Dame and was a prized recruit for the 2023 recruiting class. When he committed to Notre Dame, Brian Kelly was the head coach and Marcus Freeman was the defensive coordinator. Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU at the end of the 2021 regular season and Freeman replaced Kelly as Notre Dame’s head coach.

Shuler is a 4-star safety from Irvington, New Jersey. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Shuler is the No. 5 overall recruit in New Jersey and the No. 28 rated safety in the country. 247Sports ranked Notre Dame as the 3rd-best recruiting class for 2023. Ohio State is 2 spots behind Notre Dame as the No. 5 ranked school in the class of 2023.

If Ohio State can snatch Shuler away from Notre Dame, the rankings could change. The Early Signing Period for the class of 2023 is in December.
