Pat McAfee took some time on his show on Monday to give some praise to Notre Dame, its fans and South Bend.

McAfee was on location last weekend ahead of Notre Dame’s meeting with Ohio State. McAfee hosted his own show on campus on Friday and then was apart of College GameDay on Saturday morning.

McAfee admitted his expectations were relatively low for his first trip to South Bend.

“I don’t even remember a time in my life when I had somebody in it that wanted to wear khakis in a regular basis,” McAfee said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been friends with somebody who wore khakis. Ever. In my life. Not even an acquaintance. Ever. So to say that I don’t understand catholic school kids would be an understatement. I have never been around any of these f—ing people ever. I’ve heard stories. I’ve obviously seen documentaries. But me and catholic school kids, just not ever, that was never a thing.”

However, despite his inexperience with “catholic school kids,” McAfee had nothing but glowing things to say about Notre Dame after experiencing campus over the weekend.

“So whenever we get there and everything is brand new, state-of-the-art, beautiful. And then the crowd was the way it was. And the way they were acting. And how every human there loved football,” McAfee said. “That was a football university. And then how they showed up for us and how they showed up for GameDay.

“I was going to pick Ohio State halfway through GameDay and then I looked around and I’m like, ‘I have to f—ing pick Notre Dame with what they’ve done. Bravo to Notre Dame. That place was much cooler and better than I could have ever imagined in my entire life. So I’m very thankful for them and I’m appreciative of the ‘Notre Dame thing’ now and I understand it a lot more I think.”

McAfee did pick Notre Dame to beat the Buckeyes with an epic speech during College GameDay.

Notre Dame will be in action on the road against Duke in Week 5.
