Paul Atkinson leads Notre Dame to pivotal road win over Miami
Notre Dame picked up one of its biggest wins of the season on Wednesday night on the road at Miami.
The Irish won 68-64 just days after getting blown out at home vs. Duke. This win put Notre Dame back into the top tier of ACC teams and could be very important in landing a NCAA Tournament berth.
Paul Atkinson led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds. That’s a season-high in scoring for the Yale transfer, who is averaging just 12.2 points per game this season.
Prentice Hubb added 15 points and a team-high 6 assists. Dane Goodwin was the only other Notre Dame player to score in double figures (14 points).
Notre Dame is now in a five-way tie in the win column for first place in the ACC. Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Miami and the Irish all have 8 wins. Duke is currently alone in first place with an 8-2 record.
Notre Dame is entering a relative soft spot on its schedule. The Irish are expected to win three of their next four games, according to KenPom projections. They’re set to face NC State, Louisville, Clemson and Boston College over the next two weeks.
Tipoff vs. NC State is at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
