Sam Hartman delivers not-so-subtle message to Notre Dame fans after Tommy Rees' departure
Sam Hartman’s status may have been a question to some fans after Tommy Rees opted to leave Notre Dame for Alabama. However, it appears Hartman will be sticking with his commitment to the Fighting Irish.
On Friday evening, hours after news of Rees’ departure first broke, Hartman posted a video of himself working out in Notre Dame’s weight room.
The camera panned over to show the motto “choose hard” on the back of Hartman’s workout shirt.
Here’s the video:

Notre Dame fans are taking this as a clear sign that Hartman still intends to play for the Irish in 2023, despite Rees’ departure.
Here’s some of the reaction:
Does this answer ya’lls question? Been trying to tell y’all that Sam Hartman is locked in on @NDFootball 💪🏼☘️ https://t.co/EtQ18pgRzl

Even without Rees, Notre Dame’s offense is expected to be much-improved next season with Hartman under center. He arrives in South Bend as the ACC’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 110. He’s thrown for 7,929 yards and 77 touchdowns over the past 2 seasons alone.
Having Hartman in the fold will make Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator job significantly more attractive as Marcus Freeman begins to search for a replacement.
Notre Dame has won 9+ games in 6 consecutive seasons.
