Sam Hartman is one of the best returning quarterbacks in the country for the 2023 season, according to a Pro Football Focus analyst.

PFF’s Max Chadwick ranked Hartman at No. 7 on the list. He’s the only transfer who made the top 10.

Here’s the full list:

Hartman could have an argument for being even higher on this list, but he struggled at times in 2022. Wake Forest took a small step back last season after winning the Atlantic division title in 2021.

Still, Hartman arrives in South Bend as the ACC’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 110. He also set career-highs in completion percentage, yards per attempt and passer efficiency rating in 2022.

He should be a great fit in Notre Dame’s offense next season. The Fighting Irish mostly relied on their ground game a year ago, but that could change with Hartman under center.

Notre Dame has won 9+ games in 6 consecutive seasons.
