Sam Hartman officially committed to Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon.

The longtime Wake Forest quarterback will play his final season of college football in South Bend. He arrives at Notre Dame less than two weeks since he set the ACC’s all-time record for passing touchdowns in a career.

Hartman joins a Notre Dame team that has big expectations for 2023. The Irish are returning key players at multiple positions and now have one of the best quarterbacks in the country to lead the offense.

Hartman was a big part of Wake Forest’s resurgence over the past two seasons. Wake Forest’s 19 wins from 2021-22 are the most for that program over a two-year stretch since 2007-08. The Demon Deacons also won their second-ever Atlantic division title in 2021.

In his career, Hartman has thrown for 12,967 yards, 110 touchdowns and 41 interceptions. He has also rushed for 856 yards and 17 more scores on the ground.
