Scott Van Pelt is feeling good about the Irish in his weekly ‘winners’ segment for ESPN.

Van Pelt is taking Notre Dame as the underdog at Syracuse on Saturday afternoon. The Irish are 2.5-point dogs in this matchup against the Orange.

Here’s some analysis from Van Pelt:

Things I never thought I’d say for $1,000, please: Notre Dame isn’t getting enough points from Syracuse. Line is a little suspicious. Good Orange team off a heartbreaking loss at Clemson — good time to back the Irish in the dome. I’m on ’em.

Notre Dame hasn’t lost a regular season game to an ACC opponent since the 2017 season. The Irish are also 5-1 against the spread vs. ACC opposition since the start of the 2021 season.

Syracuse is coming off of a heartbreaking loss to Clemson last weekend in Death Valley. It was the Orange’s first loss of the season after starting the year with a 6-0 record.

Notre Dame is looking for its second ranked win of the season. The Irish also defeated No. 16 BYU earlier this month.

Van Pelt is 38-27-2 against the spread on the season.

Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
