Thomas Harper has decided to opt out of the Sun Bowl, according to a report.

Mike Berardino was first to share that news on Tuesday afternoon. His report says Notre Dame has known about Harper’s decision, but it was never formally announced.

Harper is now out of college eligibility and will be focusing on preparing for the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent five years in college football, with the first four of those seasons coming at Oklahoma State.

Harper had a career-best season in his lone year in South Bend. He recorded 39 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 2 sacks this season. He also deflected 3 passes and forced 1 fumble.

Notre Dame has been hit hard by opt-outs for this bowl game, but they’ve mostly come on the offensive side of the ball. Many of Notre Dame’s key defensive players are set to suit up against Oregon State in the season finale.

Notre Dame and Oregon State will face off in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 29.
