Brian Kelly met with Notre Dame players one final time on Tuesday morning before leaving for the LSU job.

On Wednesday, video of that meeting was leaked.

“There comes a time when you look in your life for another opportunity and I felt like it was time in my life for another challenge,” Kelly told his players. “And I saw that opportunity in a very short window and felt that it was best for me and my family to pursue a new challenge … You guys have been the backbone of the program and what you’ve accomplished and will continue to do that.”

Here’s the video:

Kelly was introduced as LSU’s head coach on Wednesday. He’s reportedly set to make $100 million over the next 10 seasons with the Tigers.

His departure leaves Notre Dame in a difficult spot for the rest of the season. The Fighting Irish are 11-1 and are still in the mix for a College Football Playoff berth, depending on what happens in conference title games this weekend.

It’s also unclear if defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman or Tommy Rees will remain in South Bend or join Kelly at LSU.

Kelly ended his remarks with a message about how the team should approach the College Football Playoff, should they qualify.

“I don’t know what (the future) holds for us moving forward, but I hope to heck it means that you are playing for the national championship because you absolutely deserve it,” Kelly said. “From the bottom of my heart I want to thank everyone of you for giving me this opportunity to speak to you directly because you don’t get that chance very often.”
