Damar Hamlin's family issues statement as Hamlin remains hospitalized
Damar Hamlin’s family issued a statement on Hamlin’s situation as he remains in the hospital.
The family asked for prayers as Hamlin is still in critical condition. Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after collapsing on the field on Monday night. The family expressed gratitude for the support they received following Hamlin’s injury.
Jordon Rooney, who is Hamlin’s friend and marketing representative, released the family statement on Tuesday morning. Here is the full statement from the family:

The statement did not include any updates on his health. The family will release updates as more information becomes available, the statement said.
Hamlin’s collapse happened shortly after he made a tackle against Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Hamlin received medical attention on the field and was given CPR. He was transported from Paycor Stadium to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in an ambulance.
Hamlin, a 2nd-year safety from Pittsburgh, was a contributor to the Buffalo Bills’ secondary in 2022. He was drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Hamlin, who is from McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, played for Pitt from 2016 to 2020. He made 14 starts for the Bills this season.
He finished time at Pitt with 290 total tackles, 6 interceptions, and 27 pass defenses. Hamlin was named a team captain by his Pittsburgh teammates for the 2020 season.
