Kenny Pickett breaks ACC’s single-season passing touchdown record

Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett has claimed another record.

Pickett’s second touchdown pass in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday night gave him 42 for the season, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s previous record for passing TD’s in a single season.

Here’s the record-breaking play:

Pickett is in his fifth season of eligibility for the Panthers. He entered this year with 39 career touchdown passes and his previous career-high in a single year was 13.

He’s also thrown for over 4,000 yards this season. He’d previously cleared the 3,000-yard threshold just once during his time with Pitt.

Pickett is expected to be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy this season. H

e’s been one of the most prolific passers in the country this year, and could be a top candidate alongside Alabama’s Bryce Young and Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson.

Pitt is search for its first conference title since 2010 when it won the Big East. The Panthers have won just two conference championships in their history.

A win for Pitt in the ACC Championship Game would clinch a berth in a New Year’s Six bowl game.
