Kenny Pickett finishes 3rd in Heisman Trophy voting

Kenny Pickett’s remarkable season at Pitt was good enough for a third place finish in the Heisman Trophy race.

Pickett finished behind Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud finished fourth.

Pickett broke records set by quarterbacks like Dan Marino (virtually all single-season passing records at Pitt) and Deshaun Watson (ACC single-season passing yardage record).

Heading into Pitt’s bowl game, Pickett has thrown for 4,319 yards, 42 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 233 yards and 5 more touchdowns this season.

Pickett’s breakout year resulted in an 11-2 season and an ACC Championship for Pitt. He threw 2 touchdowns and ran for another in t

he Panthers’ convincing victory over Wake Forest in the ACC Championship Game last weekend.

He’s Pitt’s first Heisman Trophy finalist since Larry Fitzgerald in 2003. He also came up short in the race for the Davey O’Brien Trophy, but Pickett did win the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award earlier this month.

If Pickett does decide to play in Pitt’s bowl game, his final appearance for the Panthers will be vs. Michigan State in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.
