Pitt announces Blake Hinson's plans for the 2023-24 season
Blake Hinson is coming back.
Pitt released a video that showed highlights of Hinson and ended with “I’m back.”
Hinson, who tested the NBA Draft waters, made the call ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.
Hinson’s return is a major addition to a program that previously lost Jamarius Burton, Nelly Cummings, Nike Sibande and Greg Elliott from last season’s team after they exhausted their eligibility.
Hinson may be most remembered for his 3-pointer to lift Pitt to a 60-59 NCAA Tournament victory over Mississippi State. But he also averaged 15.3 points per game and made 97 3-pointers. He averaged 6 rebounds a game and was second in overall field goals with 181.
Looking ahead to next season, Hinson is Hinson is 1 of 2 returning starters from last year’s team which produced the program’s first winning season since 2016 and 2 wins in the NCAA tournament. Hinson and junior center Fede Federiko are expected to play more prominent roles on coach Jeff Capel’s 2023-24 team.
