Pitt lands commitment from USC transfer QB Kedon Slovis

Pittsburgh has its quarterback for 2022.

The Panthers landed a commitment from USC transfer Kedon Slovis on Tuesday night. Slovis struggled at times this season with the Trojans, but he 68is one of the most accomplished passers in the portal this offseason.

For his career, Slovis has completed 68.4 percent of his passes for 7,576 yards and 58 touchdowns. A good season at Pitt in 2022 could propel him into the NFL Draft conversation in 2023.

Slovis explained his decision in a Player’s Tribune article

I was so excited when Coach Narduzzi called, because I knew that Pitt and this program were the right fit for me to keep developing into the best leader I can be,” Slovis wrote. “I’m ready to win now — and talking to the players who are returning, and seeing how hungry they are for next season, that got me pumped. They have a lot o

f talented players coming back.”

He also acknowledged the opportunity to play with Jordan Addison, who won the Biletnikoff Award this season.

“And, man … getting to throw the ball to the guy who just won the Biletnikoff?? That’s something you don’t pass up,” Slovis wrote. “The culture and identity that Coach Narduzzi has created is everything I want to be a part of.”

Slovis will replace Kenny Pickett, who just turned in one of best quarterback seasons in ACC history. He threw for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns while leading Pitt to an ACC Championship. He also finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.
