Pitt QB Kenny Pickett wins award for team’s top QB after Senior Bowl practices

Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett was named the National team’s top quarterback after one week of practices at the Senior Bowl.

Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy made that announcement on Friday. Pickett was chosen via a vote from opposing defensive players.

Liberty QB Malik Willis took home the same award for the American team.

Pickett beat out teammates Desmond Ridder and Carson Strong for the honor. Ridder and Strong were two of the best Group-of-5 quarterbacks in college football last season.

Pickett’s draft stock appears to be rising after a successful week in Mobile. He was arguably the most productive quarterback in college football this season, throwing for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns.

He’s in the mix t

o be a first-round pick alongside Willis and former North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell.

Pickett will play in the Senior Bowl on Saturday. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

The NFL Draft Combine will be the next major event for Pickett and the other quarterbacks in this class. That is being held in Indianapolis on March 1.

The 2022 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 28-30 in Las Vegas.
