Pitt has earned a commitment from 2024 Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft cornerback Tayshawn Banks.

Banks announced his commitment to the Panthers on Monday, selecting Pitt from an offer list that featured 9 Power 5 (or soon-to-be) programs. He held offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State, Purdue, and West Virginia, among others.

Banks is a 6-foot, 170-pound corner prospect. He doesn’t yet have a rating in the industry-generated 247 Composite — though that will likely soon change now that he’s part of a P5 class — but the folks at 247Sports have him rated as a 3-star. He’s the No. 85 corner in the class and the No. 45 recruit from the state of Ohio.

Banks was named the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Red division athlete of the year as a junior. He led the CMAC in interceptions with 8 (4 of which went for touchdowns). Taft also had 55 tackles in 11 games, as well as 6 tackles for loss and 3 pass breakups. He also returned punts and kicks — with touchdowns in both phases — for a Taft team that went 11-3 and played for the Division IV regional title.
