Pittsburgh trolls Wake Forest after record-breaking performance from 3 in win

Ahead of their clash Wednesday night with the Pitt Panthers, Wake Forest’s social team cut a little montage video of players knocking down jumpers in a pregame shootaround session. The caption claimed that “rain, and a lot of it” was the forecast for the evening.

They were right.

Pitt rained down a program-record 18 triples in an 81-79 win over the Demon Deacons. That included an 8-for-14 showing from forward Blake Hinson, tying the individual program record for 3-point makes in a game. After, Pitt’s social team found Wake Forest’s tweet and quoted it with some umbrella emojis. (They initially tweeted “Hey, you guys were right!” before deleting it.)

It’s a big win for the Panthers on the heels of last Saturday’s loss to Florida State. Pitt is hovering around the bubble for Joe Lunardi’s bracket over at ESPN, sitting in the “last four out” category in Lunardi’s latest update.

The Panthers (14-7, 7-3 ACC) host Miami on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
