WATCH: Pittsburgh seals Backyard Brawl victory with clutch Pick 6

While much was made about Kedon Slovis and JT Daniels, cornerback M.J. Devonshire turned out to be the hero of the Backyard Brawl.

It was Devonshire’s pick 6 — where the 6 was significantly more difficult than the pick — that was the difference in the Panthers’ 38-31 victory on Thursday night.

Devonshire picked off a dropped pass from Daniels, weaved through several defenders and found the end zone. Pitt’s defense got a stop on the next possession, and the rest is history.

Here’s the play:

Devonshire had a great night overall. He also had a pass b

reakup and 2 tackles as Pittsburgh limited Daniels to just 214 yards on 39 attempts.

While the Mountaineers’ offense put together three touchdown drives in the second half, Pitt’s defense — led by the pass rush — did just enough to stifle Graham Harrell’s air raid attack.

This was the first Backyard Brawl since 2011. The two teams are scheduled to meet again next season in Morgantown.
