ACC Sports Betting Legal Snapshot
With legal betting available in five of the nine states that are home to ACC football, there is already ample opportunity to wager on all the gridiron action. ACC sports betting is only going upwards as Kentucky is set to go live with legal sportsbooks in September, and Georgia could be not long in the future.
As far as power five conferences go, only the Big Ten can rival the legal betting prowess of ACC sports states. Meanwhile, the SEC, although it boasts supreme talent, is lagging behind with states that have legalized sports betting to this point.

ACC States with Legal Sports Betting
With the ACC made up of 14 different schools in nine different states, the conference has an impressive geographic range. North Carolina is the most ACC-packed state, as itβs home to four different schools in the conference. Luckily for fans, NC is one of the ACC states that has already legalized and launched sports betting.
Five of the nine states already feature legal sportsbooks, with two more states set to legalize and launch the industry in short order.
Massachusetts
The Boston College Eagles are the lone ACC Football school in the state of Massachusetts. Retail sports betting has been legalized and launched in Massachusetts as of January 2023, with online sports betting launching in March 2023.
While sports betting has been legalized and launched in the state, there is a caveat as it pertains to wagering on collegiate sports. Bettors in Massachusetts are prohibited from placing wagers on in-state college sports teams. However, they are permitted to wager on college sports action not involving Massachusetts teams.

Although sportsbooks are live, there is a restriction that does not allow users to bet on in-state college sports, though betting is permitted on college sports outside of the state.

There are four ACC Football schools hailing from the great state of North Carolina, those being the Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina Tar Heels, North Carolina State Wolfpack, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Sports betting is legal in North Carolina, albeit in a somewhat limited fashion.
Users have the ability to place legal sports wagers at three retail sportsbook locations in North Carolina, but online sportsbooks have not yet been launched. There is hope that NC will go live with the complete legal sports betting experience at some point in 2024.

Georgia
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the sole ACC Football school in the state of Georgia. Unfortunately for fans in the Peach State, sports betting has not yet been legalized.
While online sportsbooks are not available in Georgia, there are nearby states within hours driving distance that have legalized and launched sports betting. The hope is that Georgia will make another push to legalize sports betting in 2024.

ACC States Still Waiting for Legal Sports Betting
There are two ACC sports betting states that seem to still be a ways out from legal sports betting. But there is always the possibility of an unexpected push for the industry given its massive success nationwide.
Florida
There are two ACC Football schools in the state of Florida, those being the Florida State Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes. Unfortunately for football fans in the Sunshine State, sports betting has not yet been legalized.
Itβs hard to tell when Florida will legalize the industry, as there have been limited attempts. However, the more surrounding states that launch legal sportsbooks, the more pressure it will put on Florida lawmakers to green-light the industry.
