Syracuse has some work to do on the recruiting trail in the coming months.

The Orange’s 2022 recruiting class currently ranks No. 13 in the ACC and has just 11 members as of mid-October. With the Early Signing Period in December fast approaching, Dino Babers and his staff are running out of time to make improvements.

Syracuse currently has just one player ranked inside the top 900 of the 247Sports Composite ranking. Last cycle, the Orange finished with three such players. For the 2020 class, they had five.

Here’s a breakdown of where Syracuse’s class stands in mid-October:

Class ranking: No. 13 ACC, No. 68 nationally

Total commits: 11

Blue-chip commits (4-and-5-star prospects): 0

Highest-rated offensive recruit: 3-star WR Donovan Brown | No. 940 overall | No. 130 WR | Gaithersburg, Maryland

Highest-rated defensive recruit: 3-star DL Q’yaeir Price | No. 667 overall | No. 100 DL | Wayne, New Jersey

Final thoughts: Syracuse has struggled to find year-to-year consistency under Babers. Since the Orange won 10 games in 2018, they are 9-20 entering a tough matchup with Clemson in Week 7. If the recruiting doesn’t improve, it’s unclear if Syracuse will ever get back to its peak under Babers in 2018.
