Dino Babers critical of officiating after loss to Clemson

Dino Babers was not happy with the officiating after Saturday’s loss to Clemson.

Days after the loss, the officials have received criticism for not being consistent on late-hit calls in the second half between Clemson and Syracuse. Babers was among the critics who called out the officials.

Syracuse’s defense received a penalty for a late hit on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, who was running out of bounds on 3rd down. The penalty extended the drive and Clemson later scored a touchdown. On a different drive, Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader was running out of bounds and he was hit. However, Clemson was not penalized in that instance.

“Now I understand that flag being thrown there (on the Klubnik play),” Babers said, via The State

. “What I don’t understand is the situation that happened later where our quarterback got into a similar situation where nobody pushed their defender in the back and their defender pushed our quarterback in the back and we did not get a call.”

Here’s a clip of both plays:

Syracuse suffered its 1st loss of the season in Week 8. The Orange will look to bounce back at home against Notre Dame on Saturday.

Clemson is off in Week 9 but will face Notre Dame on Nov. 5.
