Seth Greenberg praises Jim Boeheim, but says ‘it’s time’ for the Syracuse coach to step down

Seth Greenberg was in studio on Wednesday during the Wake Forest-Syracuse game in the ACC Tournament, and moments after the Demon Deacons won on a last-second 3-pointer, the ESPN analyst suggested it’s time for coach Jim Boeheim to step d

own at Syracuse.

Greenberg pointed out Boeheim’s notable accomplishments, including a national championship and multiple Final Fours, and added, “He’s impacted hundreds of lives, but sometimes it’s time. I really believe for Syracuse to continue to move forward as one of the elite programs in college basketball, it’s time. He can’t do it forever.”

Greenberg also mentioned that Boeheim has done an incredible job, and has built the program for what it is today.

“But now it’s t

ime for someone to step forward and basically take the reigns from him and build it back up,” he said. “No slight on him. What he’s done is incredible. But sometimes, the time is right. I actually really believe the time is right for Jim Boeheim to accept all the things that he’s accomplished, and look, he’s accomplished incredible things. But it’s time for him to move on and give someone else the reigns and have someone else rebuild the program.”
