Syracuse announces season-ending injuries for 2 starters

It was a big weekend for Syracuse as the Orange took down Louisville, 31-7.

The Orange held Louisville QB Malik Cunningham and Cardinals’ offense to just 1 touchdown. Cunningham was picked off twice, including once in the end zone. The QB threw for just 152 total yards.

Unfortunately, it’s not all good news for the Orange. During a press conference on Monday. , Syracuse head coach Dino Babers gave an update on two injured players.

Both Elmore and Thomson suffered injuries during Saturday’s game, and returned to the sidelines later on crutches. It’s a big loss for the Orange, Babers said.

“You’re talking about a guy who’s been a captain two years in (Elmore), and (Thompson) was right on the edge of becoming a captain for us,” Babers said, via Syracuse.com

. “Both those guys have unbelievable leadership skills, and we expect them to continue to be leaders on and off the football field for this football team throughout the 2022 season.”

We’ll see if the Orange are able to duplicate their success without the aid of these two valuable players. Syracuse faces UConn on Saturday.
