Garrett Shrader will miss spring practice after Syracuse announced on Monday that the quarterback underwent a successful procedure for an injury to his right arm.

“I’m disappointed to miss the rest of the spring, but looking forward to rehabbing and getting ready for this upcoming season,” Shrader said in a statement.

Syracuse will begin spring practice on March 21.

Shrader last season was a team captain and started 12 games, and completed 205-of-317 passes (64.7 pct) for 2,640 yards with 17 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. He ran for 453 yards on 150 attempts and 9 scores … His .647 completion percentage was second in the ACC and 33rd nationally this season, and it was the third most accurate season in program history. He also had a 147.9 passing efficiency rating, which was the ninth-best season in program history.

His 205 completions were the seventh-highest single-season total in program history.
