Syracuse officially names Travis Fisher as new assistant coach

Travis Fisher is officially in the fold at Syracuse.

The former defensive backs coach at Nebraska for the past 5 seasons was announced on Thursday as the new cornerbacks coach at Syracuse. Before Nebraska, he previously coaching for 5 seasons at his alma mater UCF across two stints (2013, 2015-17) split up by one season as the cornerbacks coach at Southeast Missouri State (2014).

He’s known for producing recent NFL talent.

Fisher in the past 5 seasons, 9 of his players have landed in the NFL, including first-round pick Mike Hughes, second-round selection Cam Taylor-Britt and third-round pick Shaquill Griffin.

Fisher himself had a 9-year NFL career. He played for the Rams, Lions, Seahawks and Ravens in the NFL, recording 341 tackles, 11 interceptions and 32 pass breakups. His 2 pick-6s and 203 interception return yards in 2003 led the league.
