Ben Vander Plas will not continue playing for Virginia men’s basketball this season after suffering an injury during the ACC Tournament on Wednesday. The news was confirmed by Cavaliers’ head coach Tony Bennett on Thursday in a press release.
Bennett stated that Vander Plas s
uffered a fractured right hand during the Louisville game. Virginia went on to beat the Cardinals 75-60.
Vander Plas did not start his career at Virginia. Up until this past season, Vander Plas spent the majority of his collegiate career at Ohio. The graduate transfer joined Bennett’s program this season.
Vander Plas averaged 7.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 29 games played for Virginia hoops this season.

un. Virginia must now prepare for a matchup with North Carolina on Thursday night.
The Tarheels took care of business against Boston College in a 85-61 victory on Wednesday. Virginia didn’t have too much trouble with Louisville despite losing Vander Plas for the season. The Cavaliers split the season series with North Carolina, losing in Chapel Hill on Feb. 25.
