Tony Elliott gives update on injured QB Tony Muskett

Tony Elliott gave a brief update on Tony Muskett’s injury in his postgame press conference on Saturday afternoon.

Muskett was forced to leave UVA’s 49-13 loss to Tennessee on Saturday afternoon. Elliott confirmed that Muskett is dealing with a shoulder injury, but the severity is not yet known.

“We know it’s his shoulder,” Elliott said. “Right now, we don’t know the extent. We’ll get back, get some X-rays to find out. Obviously he couldn’t return to the game. Hoping for the best but still don’t know for sure.”

Muskett completed 9-of-17 passes for 94 yards before having to exit the game. Virginia’s offense s

truggled all game long against Tennessee’ physical defensive front.

He was replaced by true freshman quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who completed 2-of-7 passes in his collegiate debut.

If Muskett is not able to return to the lineup next week, it would be a big loss for Virginia. He won the starting QB job this fall after transferring in from Monmouth this offseason.

Virginia will play James Madison in Week 2.
