Virginia adds commitment from 4-star shooting guard in class of 2023

Virginia picked up a major commitment from 4-star shooting guard Elijah Gertrude on Wednesday afternoon.

Gertrude announced his decision in a ceremony broadcast by CBS Sports HQ. He was also considering Kansas, Rutgers, Seton Hall and St. John’s.

Here’s his announcement:

Gertrude is an elite prospect in the class of 2023. He’s ranked as the No. 107 overall player and the No. 16 shooting guard in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He attends Hudson Catholic High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He took an official visit to Virginia in late July.

Gertrude is Virginia’s second commitment in this class. He joins 4-star Blake Buchanan in the class.
