After 5 seasons at Virginia, Francisco Caffaro is looking elsewhere to continue his college basketball career.

Caffaro revealed Thursday on social media that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

“It has been an honor to play for Virginia these last 5 years and to share lifelong bonds with my teammates and coaches, my other family.

“I am forever thankful for the UVA community and city of Charlottesville for taking me in and making me feel at home while being a long way from Argentina. I want to express my gratitude to Coach Bennett, and the rest of the coaching staff for taking a chance on me and allowing me to pursue my dreams.

“With that said, the time has come for me to explore the next chapter of my career. I will be entering the transfer portal for my final year of eligibility.

“Thank you Wahoo Nation, and as always, Go Hoos.”

Over the past 4 seasons, Caffaro played in 92 games, making 21 starts, after redshirting the 2018-19 season. This past season, Caffaro logged 163 minutes over 20 games (3 starts), averaging 2 points per game.

The NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver allows Caffaro to return for the 2023-24 season with a sixth season of eligibility.
