Virginia OL Olusegun Oluwatimi enters transfer portal

One of the ACC’s best players has entered the transfer portal.

That’s Virginia offensive lineman Olusegun Oluwatimi, who was named one of three finalists for the Rimington Trophy on Monday. That award is given annually to the top center in the country.

The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Jacquie Franciulli:

Oluwatimi is the first Virginia player to ever be named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy. That honor caps off a tremendous 2021 season that also saw him be named second team All-ACC.

He started all 12 games for Virginia this season. Originally a 2-star recruit in the class of 2017

, Oluwatimi transferred from Air Force to Virginia before the 2018 season. He sat out the 2018 season due to the NCAA’s transfer rule but has been a regular starter for the Cavaliers since 2019.

The news comes just days after the announcement that head coach Bronco Mendenhall would be stepping down after six seasons. Virginia is currently searching for its next head coach.
