Virginia releases Week 1 game trailer ahead of season opener at Tennessee

Virginia kicks off the 2nd season of the Tony Elliott era on Saturday, and the Cavaliers will have a challenge on their hands right out of the gate. They head on the road to face a resurgent Tennessee team at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The Cavs, of course, were struck by tragedy last year as in November, 3 players — Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry — were killed on the grounds of the University of Virginia. The program ultimately canceled its last 2 games of the season against Coastal Carolina and Virginia Tech to end with a 3-7 record. In 2023, the team will return to the field while honoring their fallen teammates, wearing “15”, “41”, and “1” decals throughout the season.

On Thursday, the Cavaliers released their season-opening game trailer, which you can watch below:

It’s only the 4th all-time meeting between the two schools on the gridiron and the 1st since the 1991 Sugar Bowl, a 23-22 Tennessee win. In 2022, the Vols finished 11-2, their first 11-win season since 2001, and won the Orange Bowl while finishing 6th in the country.

Kickoff from Nashville is set for noon ET, with the game to be televised on ABC.
